Coach Kienus Boulware is one of the more tech-savvy football coaches I know.

He is big on Twitter and Facebook and I’m pretty sure he’s on Instagram as well. It’s not unusual for Boulware to use his phone to video me interviewing one of his players.

That’s just the way Boulware is, a coach who doesn’t mind changing with the times.

But one of things Boulware doesn’t do is read a lot of message boards on the internet that are out there. He says early in his coaching career when he was an up-and-coming assistant he tended to read those boards, which are filled with anonymous posts that tend to boarder on the ridiculous.

Last week I asked Boulware if he has any time to read the message boards.

ā€œI wasn’t going to get into that,ā€ Boulware said about message boards. ā€œI purposely said I don’t look at those message boards and I didn’t do it before and I don’t do it now. You only apply more pressure on yourself when you read those things.ā€

There are times, however, when his assistant coaches or friends will let him know what the message boards are saying.

ā€œI will stay off those message boards and I’ll let those other people handle that,ā€ Boulware said. ā€œMost of those people on those message boards are either not in coaching or they have nothing else to do. Some of them have not even been to our games.ā€
