Amika Mobile Announces Hosted Gunshot Detection Service in Collaboration With Tracer Technology Systems

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 22, 2016) -

Editors Note: There is a photo associated with this press release.

Amika Mobile is pleased to announce its partnership with Tracer Technology Systems to offer Shot Tracer®, a Hosted Service for Gunshot Sensor Detection. Shot Tracer® leverages the Amika Mobility Server (AMS) platform for critical and emergency communication and patented Tracer gunshot sensor technology for units mounted in schools, places of worship, buses or units worn by first responders and security teams.

According to the Gun Violence Archive Organization, there have already been 10,739 incidents of US gun violence in 2016, with 2,738 people killed and 5,513 injured. There are daily incidents of shootings at workplaces and schools. Shot Tracer®  will help detect shootings, identifying when and where they occur and trigger lockdowns through AMS to bring first responders to the scene rapidly. According to the FBI, 66% of shootings end before police arrive and the ability to automatically initiate a coordinated response as soon as the first shot is detected will save lives.

"It is exciting to be working with Shot Tracer® solutions which will definitely save lives as mass shootings continue to rise.", said Amika Mobile Co-Founder/CEO Sue Abu-Hakima.

Shot Tracer® leverages the AMS platform for its targeted alerts to end users, 2-way response capabilities and seamless integration with physical systems to trigger event actions such as automated lockdowns when gunshots are detected. AMS simultaneously alerts ANY layer including SMS, Pop-ups on SmartPhones, Tablets or Desktops, Email, VoIP, Callouts, LMR, Facebook, Twitter, or RSS.

Shot Tracer® CEO Allan Overcast said "It is great to be introducing this service globally as the combination of our gunshot sensor technology and Amika Mobile's award winning mass notification capability will help make students and workplaces much safer."

Tracer Products will be demonstrated at the International Wireless Communications Expo March 21-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada at booth #1748. Amika Mobile will demonstrate the hosted service at ASIS 2016 in Orlando, Florida, September 12-15, 2016.
